They're so terrified of fraud that they turn away far more business than they'd lose by relaxing and getting ripped off occasionally.
It sucks but it's part of doing business. People use stolen payment details and sometimes you get chargebacks. There is no chance whatsoever that they'd lose out by relaxing their faulty janky security measures. They've easily cost themselves hundreds from me alone - I'm apparently not allowed to buy their shit, so I have no choice but to patiently wait and pirate it when it leaks.
