the difference is that what you did pings everyone who is watching this thread and tells them that there is new content posted. what he did tells people specifically that there is a new comment so they know not to expect any new content. If you have something to say comment it under a post that already exists. dont make a whole new post just to leave a comment, Its annoying and against the rules.
