I'm debating joining that group. Anyone know if you can save media from private clapper groups? Or does it send a notification snapchat style? I'm really not too familiar with how clapper operates yet

Yeah you can, no notification as far as I'm aware. They have stated pictures and videos found outside of that paid group will get the group shut down immediately though
