Been using mine for like years and never had anything happen.
From what I know, canceled can happen if you are new or use prepaid card. Then they approve it by manually.

FWIW I have not had any fraudulent charges by them in 2+ years of making purchases. I have had charges reversed and orders cancelled for trying to buy newish sets before getting whitelisted.

If you buy a handful of older sets you will eventually get whitelisted and your purchases will then go through instantly and you can start buying newer stuff.

i think charm just defaults to cancelled. ive had a teenmarvel orders delivered instantly in the past, but afaik on marvelcharm every order, even when youve been buying for years, goes straight to canceled until they send it manually.

consider yourself lucky they rejected your card.
I recently purchased a quite expensive post on Anitas timeline on MF, only to find out the download link hidden in the comment area of that post has been dead for months.
So I reported it: No reup, no refund, no reaction whatsoever to this day.
Fuck that shit, never again... the entire marvel thing is a fucking clown show, I wouldn't let these people run a toll booth for 5 minutes.

as for those reports about stolen credit card data: Never happened to me, but I wouldn't be surprised if their database got hacked at some point if they set it up as moronic as they do everything else... I think Occams Razor is at work here: They are not scammers, they're just plain stupid.
