Off Topic How to access private threads on SMG forums

There seems to be certain threads on here that are restricted and only accessible to certain individuals.

How does this work, is it a matter that people need to have a particular reaction score, or a set number of likes?

Or is it up to the owner of the thread to individually permit individuals to access it?

Really wish there was more information on this.
