I wasn't bumping this one until the dude bitched about it. People complaining about bumping are dumb because it doesn't affect your alerts. People that make pointless comments are worse.
But the point of bumping is to get the thread to the top of the forum to bring attention to new people that weren't already following it. New people coming to a thread = more opportunities for people to add new content.
Again, bumping should not piss people off. Follow the thread like a normal user and just check back in when you see a new comment/post alert showing

going by the watched threads area is braindead. it just doesn't work on this forum. on simp you go by watched, on here you go by alerts
