Alright, this might not be the perfect place to say this, and I’m not trying to sound self-pitying. But honestly, I’d be seriously satisfied/happy if I managed to find a girlfriend or even a FWB who looks this good:

For the past 5 years I’ve been focused on improving my life: left the nest and living independently abroad, going to the gym regularly, applying for a new job, and finishing my semi-final year of college (yeah, I'm a bit older than most students).

Bars, dance classes, and clubs aren’t really my thing, I've been to quite a few and despite working on myself I still haven’t really met a reasonably cute woman who’s just normal, with normal flaws (a mental, physical, genetic and so forth problem) like the rest of us.

So I’m curious: what’s dating like for you guys these days in the U.S, Canada and so forth?

Because from my experience as a non-caucasian foreigner in the Netherlands 🇳🇱, it seems basically/near impossible, even though I’ve been taught their language since I was a kid.
I’d appreciate any advice or perspectives.

Forget online dating. Join some classes or activities that women like and you can enjoy so you can meet them on even ground. See if you can make a good human connection with any, and then flirt and see what happens. Desperation is the least attractive thing, don't go in like a hungry dog looking for pussy. Don't treat the woman as a woman, just as a human. Relationship in all its forms flows from simple enjoyable human connection. And don't aim too high. You will not get a girl nearly as hot as that chick. And older women are a much easier nut to crack. Benjamin Franklin wisely said:
"The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever: So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one. And as in the dark all Cats are grey, the Pleasure of corporal Enjoyment with an old Woman is at least equal, and frequently superior, every Knack being by Practice capable of Improvement."

Hey, I appreciate you taking the time to reply and share your advice. I agree that meeting people through activities and focusing on genuine human connection is probably better than relying on apps.

I am curious about one thing though. You mentioned I shouldn’t aim that high and that I won’t get a girl nearly as beautiful as Lily Bowman. I’m not offended, but I’d honestly like to understand why you think that.

Do you mean because of my situation (being an older 3rd year college student, not wealthy, and don't adhere to EU/Western beauty standards)?

Because I showed vulnerability by making this post and asked for advice?

Or because other men with more exciting lifestyles (go on luxurious trips, have yachts, sports cars, etc) and high-paying careers (investors, doctors, stockbrokers, pilots, bankers, and so forth) tend to attract women like that?

Just genuinely interested in your perspective.

You wrote 'Because from my experience as a non-caucasian foreigner in the Netherlands 🇳🇱, it seems basically/near impossible'

The only thing impossible is the standards you set. If you set impossibly high standards, you will wait forever and likely never find it.

Getting a girl that hot requires winning a lottery. Either monetary or genetic. If you were a lottery winner, you would know because you would have got the 10/10 chick already. Lottery winners do not stay single for long.

Hi Sargota, sorry for taking a while to reply.

I admit that I said it feels nearly impossible for me, as a non-Caucasian foreigner, to form a romantic relationship here in the Netherlands 🇳🇱

To be honest, it often seems, feels and looks like society here is closed off and is in general fairly segregated.
Though over the five and half years that I’ve been living here on my own (while my parents and siblings are back home in the Caribbean), I have seen some exceptions where relationships happen regardless of ethnicity or race.

You might be right that the only truly impossible things are the standards we set for ourselves. I won’t deny that there’s truth in what you said.

Also, your analogy about luck, winning the lottery, and genetics made sense to me, for example: when thinking about wanting a woman who looks as attractive as Lily.B.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my situation and for giving
me advice

Fils-A-Mech take a look at book called 'the game ' by Neil Strauss. Read and adapt with a bit of common sense because it's more focused on US society but it's valuable. Years ago I was in a situation similar to yours, and reading this book and similar stuff (don't go crazy buying courses and so on. you can download this book in sites like zbooks) shifted things quite positively to the point I got 'tired' of the life style, and quiet down to build a family. Now I can just enjoy my healthy doses of porn

Sorry guys in the thread for writing something unrelated. Just wanted to help a buddy

Will definitely look up and read the book you mentioned

Also, thanks for giving me advice and I appreciate the fact that you've been in a similar boat than me, regardless of being in the U.S.

Personally speaking, I most definitely want to be a dad some day
