A few days ago, some of my external hard drives showed signs of fatigue and I spent the week-end centralizing the content I collected here and there on a new HDD. It made me realize something I hid myself from for a long time: it's a mess.
So far, I've organized my folders into categories (say CELEBS, YOUTUBERS, ASMR GIRLS and so on) and for each actress / individual a subfolder where I'd gather their content I wanted to keep.
At this point, I guess some of you'll see where I'm at. I've collected this content from different sources (IG, forums, websites) with their different naming scheme. I've split that content on different supports I had under my hand at the time, not renaming these files. Now that I'm gathering everything into one place, it's all over the place. Some of these folders were started years ago and I now have some with hundreds of pics in it, mixed together because of the file name.
So I'm looking for a way to organize all this. I know it'll take a long time, but hey, I want something clear. I've thought about adding the date (of the event, or when it was posted on socials) at the beginnig of the file name, that way all the pics of a same event should be following each other. Can't really do that for past IG stories for example, but I can at least do it for past events.
But before doing so, I'd like to hear from you. How do you guys organize your stuff? I'd love for someone to open my eyes on the best way to keep it organized
