You can only download a private video if your youtube account has access to it. Recording is one option, but another option is to use an addon or app like Jdownloader2. The only downside is that you need to log in with your youtube account for the app to be able to fetch the files. You could make a throwaway account if you're worried about safety.

yes, you can use 4kdownload or snapdownloader. 4k is $15 for a year subscription and Snap is $8 a month .

As others have said, JDownloader, YT-DLP, and GDownloader (builtin YT-DLP and more convenient) all work reasonably well for most things where others (like ClipGrab) usually don't work.

If that and your browser's Dev Tools don't work, you can just record it manually with something like ShareX. I've had decent results with YouTube Downloader (UDL Helper) which is a Chromium based extension as well. OG's will def know Firefox/Waterfox with VideoDownloadHelper has been longtime relliable. :)

Edit: Everything I mentioned is free. No need to pay for it either. ;)
