I guarantee that if a 4K video is posted, and the file size is hidden, that none of the people whining about wanting source quality would even be able to tell if it was compressed or source using their eyes alone.

It's like audiophiles arguing about wanting FLAC yet most can't even tell the difference between FLAC and 320kbps mp3 in a blind test when using high end equipment.

I'm an audio engineer, and I don't care about FLAC vs MP3. I do have a 4K TV though, and I would be happy if all content I consumed was in 4K and 60FPS. That's unlikely to happen any time soon, so 4K30 will suffice. TBH I can't tell the difference between 4K and 8K, even in VR.

That's a fair point on the frame rate. That can be noticeable if you are used to a particular frame rate and suddenly see a different one.

I'm convinced most people can't spot whether a video is compressed or not though without seeing the video specs/metadata since video recording/encoding settings can vary so much.

lmaoo its so obvious you have never experienced 4k, i literally buy blurays or download films that are 70-90 GBs because streaming "4k" and 15-30GB "4k" looks garbage in comparison to actual 4k
so no, youre wrong, i can tell the difference and its actually really obvious and big, especially when the screen is huge
i just dont understand why people cant mind their own business? youre ok with 480p? watch it. why mock people who want 4k? just mind your own business wagie

because some people just won't stop whining like babies when it doesn't get posted in 4k, lol. I don't hear a single person complain that it's too high quality, or beg for low rez, but man some people on here really get pissy when it gets posted in lower resolution. Not saying you, just in several posts I see it again and again.
