Holy Shit i loved persona 5 so much that i played it with RPCS3 a couple of years ago with solid 15fps and shit with my old 4770k. Im hyped for the PC Release

It really did but in the best kind of way, FireEmblem GBA was such a fun game I used to play it at boarding school all the time.

I hate the dating sim aspect. I genuinely don't care what one of the character's favorite food is. I feel like I'm missing out on so much story because I don't bother with the school parts of the game and am only interested in the gameplay. I got really far into the game and barely had any characters.

Honestly the dating sim part is confusing but eventually becomes one of the best parts of the game when your 200+ hours in , the story line for it is definitely one of the best stories I've seen in a FE game.

Chrono Trigger or FF7. Honorable mention to ff6 and xenogears though, both of those are also master pieces.

FF6, FF7, Golden Sun: Lost Age, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears and Yakuza: Like A Dragon for turn based. Action based: Tales Of Symphonia and Berseria, Valkyria Chronicles, Xenoblades Chronicles 1 and 3, as well as technically Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Rise/Sunbreak (on technicalities) for action jrpg.

Honorable mentions Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (not perfect but still very good) and Shin Megami Tensei as well as Persona series

Chrono trigger and Chrono cross are amazing but final fantasy and dragon quest also hold a special place in my heart
I also always wanted to try out the tales games and nino kuni

I think more so than any other genre, defining the best JRPG of all time is incredibly tough. For me, I love SMT: Nocturne, but I know thats a biased answer and that the story isn't particularly strong. There is just so many contenders that can apply in every decade. Can't go wrong with Chrono Trigger though, its OST is still hard to beat today.
Some faves though aside from Those two. Persona series, Suikoden Series, FF9, Tales series(Vesperia specifically)
