There is less exploration of the world. Original GoT had the DT story, the Stark story and the Lannister story, which ebbed and flowed around them. Here we just have one of those through lines, although it has started to break up a bit in the last episode. Still feels a bit too small in comparison.

I wonder how many years they are going to cover during the first season and then the entire series. By the end of the series will it be the great great grandkids fighting?

Man the Episode tonight was fire! I wonder where it would go once they had Daemon and Rhanerya getting it on in that Pleasure House I thought well fuck what is going happen next. I thought for sure Visery would go Mad King but he handled it really well under the circumstances. He now banished his Brother back to the Veil and fired Otto as his Hand! Otto you really thought Visery wouldn't figure out your plans eventually? Either way his plan was to slowly weed out the Targaryen and appoint the Hightower name up at the top as it went on. I don't know what will happen now with the relationship with Visery and Alicent especially if she listens to her follow to get his Son ready to rule at the top. I saw the Preview for the next Episode should be another fun one now that Rhanerya is going to get married and you have all chaos involving her being sulled or should I say no longer being an virgin.

I don't think anything will hold a candle to the first 4 series of Game of Thrones - there isn't enough depth to the Targaryen story for all the politics, intrigue and subtlety of the main series - but I'm still really enjoying it. The third episode in particular was a lot of fun.

The formula's quite interesting, with the episodes taking place months and years apart. I'm not sure how many episodes are in the series, but is it possible we could see decades pass and characters recast mid-series as they age?
