Update: I was wrong. OnlyFans is killing their golden goose. Big sad.

I'm quite certain that this is fake news.

After reviewing numerous news articles that have been posted over the last several hours regarding this announcement, it seems that none of them actually have supporting evidence, or even a reputable citation, for the claims that OnlyFans will be banning sexually-explicit content.

As far as I can tell, the original source for all of today's reports on this subject comes from this article.
The article, which was published by a small-time "news" outlet that you've probably never heard of, provides a single citation for the claim that OnlyFans will be banning sexually explicit content.
In case you didn't notice, the author of the article is citing his own Twitter post as the source of this information.
His Twitter post has zero credibility.
He literally just opened a text editor, wrote a scary announcement that sounds official, took a screenshot of it, and claims that OnlyFans sent him that message.
He provides no supporting evidence that the message actually came from OnlyFans.

Furthermore, if OnlyFans was planning such a drastic change, why would they announce it to this random nobody before announcing it to anybody else?

This "journalist" just wanted to generate views and cause hysteria, and it worked.
Other journalists, desperate for content, picked up the article and immediately regurgitated the scary "news" on their own media outlets.
As this snowballed, larger reputable news outlets parroted the information, and the cycle continued up the chain to some of the big news outlets, such as The New York Times, The Guardian, and Bloomberg.
All of these derivative articles quote the contents of the original screenshot as if it were an official announcement from OnlyFans, yet they don't offer any further source that could help verify the claims.

Tl;dr: Don't Panic. OnlyFans isn't killing their golden goose (for now).

I mean it isn't exactly out of the blue. It is just following the trend. It happened to pornhub a while back hence the reason you couldn't use credit cards on the site for a while until they purged 75 percent of their content. Also same thing goes for Patreon as they removed any and all sexual content on their site a while back. And now its OnlyFans turn. And watch any other company that gets big it will happen to them. It is credit cards not being authorized by the banks that is the whole issue here. Without payment there is no service. I'm sure the Onlyfans company is taking issue with some sort of phrasing of the reporting but based on everything coming from places like Bloomberg The change is being made at the request of the site's banking partners and payout providers. Aka Banks aren't going to authorize purchases anymore as there is a risk for liability for them (aka getting sued) because of underage content. Same shit they pulled for Pornhub and Patreon. And whether you want to admit it or not the banks run business at the moment. This would be a perfect moment for some form of cryptocurrency to step in but that infrastructure isn't built overnight nor is it easy to understand for people like Jimmy Blueballs. In a word: fuck.

Party is over boys, if only Onlyfans wasn't run by idiots who let scammers and abusers take over their service.
No worries tho I'm sure another service will popup, hopefully with no scammers this time.

Originally OF was the ranchy version of Patreon . People there would legit sell nudes n shit but people started making it too popular and they notice a bbig chunck is just people selling instagram level photos. To make it worse a bunch of artists like Bella Thorne and B tier internet celebs started making it about "artistic and expression" when in the reality was just a porn website. We will be good guys relax it's the girls that shoudl worry cause the flow of money will diminish but they will find other smaller ways to sell ranchy porn but to a smaller audience. TBH maybe it's for the better. OF was getting too big ,and the ego of some of them...

I see people here wrongly thinking that onlyfans is stopping explicit content under pressure from banks and payment processors because they sell porn which is absolutely wrong.

Payment processors accept porn just fine. they have for decades. How else are people buying porn on the internet?

All models on Onlyfans are verified. You have to upload your government ID to become an Onlyfans creator. So the theory that banks are scared of underage porn is wrong.

Pornhub does the exact same thing. Pornhub has verified pornhub models and you can use your credit card on pornhub.

onlyfans wants to sell the company and to raise the value of the company to 1 billion, they need investors and this is main problem. they are not getting any investors.
investors dont want to invest in a porn company.

so people complaining about how banning porn will kill the business. they dont care. as soon as the valuation of the company increases, they will sell it and they are out. whatever happens after that dont matter to them.

No matter what really is behind the rumors, some scared scammer girls will finally bow to pressure "before it ends" and try making bank through selling content they never wanted to sell.
